Ensconce yourself within the ocean-inspired design of our rooms while looking out over the harbor and pools from your private balcony.
Welcome to The Marker Key West Harbor Resort, where your unforgettable journey into the heart of Key West begins. Sabrina Gendron, our concierge, answers your most pressing questions, offering insider tips and sharing hidden gems to ensure your visit is nothing short of spectacular.
Q: What are the most frequently asked questions from guests who are checking in at our resort?
Do you have bikes to rent at the Marker?
Yes, we do! They’re a great way to get around like a local and explore the island. Get them for the day or your whole stay!
Which way to Duval Street?
We are only two blocks from Duval Street. The Marker is the perfect location to be close to all the best restaurants, historical attractions, and water activities' departure points.
Where do you go to see the sunset?
The most common is Mallory Square where people from all around the world come together for the sunset celebration. The best way to see the sunset is from the water! Go on a sunset sail with a Live island band, food and drinks on board, or treat yourselves to a private charter and make it magical!
Q: Can you share some of the most unusual or unique requests our hotel has received from guests?
The one that stands out is when a guest asked to purchase a piece of art we have hanging in the bathroom. A unique moment was when a guest asked me to video him…proposing! She said yes, now they come back every year to celebrate with us!
Q: How long have you lived in Key West?
Six years! I first came in 2014 till 2017 when we headed to Missouri for a few years to be around the family. We were excited to return to the island in 2021, we being my husband and step-daughter, who you’ll meet as a crew member on our boats!
Q: As a local, where do you recommend guests go to get the authentic Key West experience?
When I’m not at our poolside enjoying a watermelon salad (add the shrimp; you’ll thank me later), you’ll find me most of the week at our organic cafe & market, Date & Thyme, for a healthy lunch or smoothie. Take something to go and head to Fort Zachary Taylor State Park to experience the tropical island life and relax at the beach.
The view from Hot Tin Roof
Q: What's your top restaurant recommendation in Key West?
My No.1 choice is always the Hot Tin Roof! The hospitality team makes you feel like a VIP along with the exceptional menu created by Executive Chef Scott Maurer. We love to start with the bread and mushrooms. My favorite small plate is the curry grouper or for a large plate, I'm getting the scallops. We go all out at the Hot Tin and can’t leave without sharing the cuban bread pudding & their beautifully displayed Key Lime Pie. The whole dining experience is elevated with mesmerizing waterfront views overlooking Sunset Key. It’s the prime place to see sunset dining with all the sailboats and yachts going by. I highly recommend all our guests talk to our concierge team for reservations in advance
Q: What water-based activity do you recommend for a memorable adventure?
My MUST-DO excursion is our Island Adventure, because I love Kayaking! You'll get to snorkel in a marine sanctuary before exploring the mangrove islands surrounding the wildlife refuge. The crew will serve food and drinks, while you relax on the sandbar till the sunsets. It’s an unforgettable way to see paradise immersed in nature!
Dolphin Watch
Q: Can you share a secret spot that guests should visit?
Ok, no gatekeeping here. You’ll have to take a boat to get there, good thing I have great captains to take you out to what we call ‘the dolphin’s playground’ to see these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat.
Q: Where should guests go for a great night out in Key West?
Go hit up The Tiki House on Greene Street. Although I don’t drink like I used to, I can tell you, Key West is just as fun to vacation without alcohol. Nine One Five has a mocktail list with a drink called ‘Duval No Crawl’ with New London Light 0% Gin that's delicious and you can get plant-derived drafts at Kava Culture Bar.
Q: What do you want people to know about the Marker Key West Harbor Resort experience before they visit?
We are your introduction to the Key West Harbor, a hidden oasis on the island. We’ll have a warm island greeting for you when you arrive and our hospitality focus is for you to have the best experience of paradise with us.
Q: Finish this sentence: Key West is…
Key West is “One Human Family,” we welcome you to join us in paradise.

Key West is a haven for food lovers, and its Cuban sandwich is a standout delight that shouldn't be missed. Recently, Sandy's Cafe took home the prestigious title of Best Cuban Sandwich at the 2024 Key West Bubba Awards (it’s our version of the People’s Choice Awards) and also won Best Traditional Cuban Sandwich at the 3rd Annual Cuban Sandwich Throwdown.
